My name is Jessica, and I am a Year 3 primary school teacher @ St Matthews Primary School. This is my second year teaching full-time, and I am absolutely loving it! I have already created a class website, but have wanted to start a personal blog for sometime- and now is my chance!
I am fascinated with the idea of sharing experiences and ideas for a general education audience. Blogging has many advantages to which benefits teachers/educators.
This tool promotes design & creativity, connects with a network of educators, increases IT skills, and promotes personal & reflection.
I completed the Web 2.0 course offered by the CEO, which encountered 10 modules. These modules are outlined below.

Module 3
Module 3- Get Technology Frenzy
Reflection: Google Docs is definitely something I live by in the teaching world. I work in an open-space environment with two colleagues, so communication is vital!!! We adopted this great organising tool at the beginning of the year to increase efficiency and usability of information. We used this tool to organise day plans, programs, assessments, student data and a lot more! This tool is definitely something I recommend to any teacher in an open-space environment.
ADVANTAGES OF GOOGLE DOCS
Accessibility: Colleagues can access the database 24/7 wherever they have internet connection. This tool is extremely helpful, particularly for colleagues who aren't at home and working from mobile devices.
-Version Control: Collaboration is of the utmost importance in the workplace. This tool is able to control the version of any document colleagues upload from their device.
-Sharing: Goole Docs allows you to share your documents to particular people -multiple colleagues or only a few, it is in your hands!
-Easy to Learn: This tool is straightforward and easy to pick up! You can customise your home page to a layout that suits you!
-Cost: Google Docs is FREE!
-Activity Sidebar: On the right sidebar, Google Docs allows you to see what changes your colleagues make to any documents that are shared with you.
Google Docs Form- Assessments
This tool is FANTASTIC! Not only does it allow for technology to be used in the classroom, but it can be used for any subject and allows for differentiation and customisation. You can add as many questions as you like, and make them as open-ended as possible.
Below is a link to the form I created. This term, students are learning about the topic 'Who will Buy?' in H.S.I.E. As a homework task, students will be expected to go home and ask an 'older' person a few questions in relation to shopping then and now. Check out my form below.

Module 4
Activity 3: ANIMOTO
Reflection: This video was created using students work samples in Term 2, from the unit, 'Art Attack' in Creative Arts. Students acquired the skills and techniques used in Creative Arts, and replicated this through various art forms. I can use this video next year when teaching this unit again. I really enjoyed creating this video, and researching the difference in podcasts & vodcasts. Students love ANY form of technology- so engaging these types of tools in the classroom in definitely a MUST!
How can I use Podcasting/Vodcasting in my classroom?

- Record classroom expectations at the beginning of every term/year
- Classroom Tasks
- Record classroom discussions
Students created Podcasts/Vodcasts:
- Student projects/assignments

Module 5
Activity 1: Creating a mind map using https://bubbl.us/
Web 2.0 tools are fundamentally reshaping many aspects of the classroom.
These tools help to;
-Create and support the virtual learning environment (Google Docs, Sites, Wiki, Ning, Classm8)
-Support Classroom Management (Google Docs, Classm8, Email, Chat)
-Support communication and sustain relationships
-Support teachers and learning through a variety of resources (google earth, youtube, )
-Support students using tools for many ways, in particular WHAT they are learning, through assessments. (Google Docs, Wordle, Animoto, Prezi, Podcasts/Vodcasts, Glogster)

Activity 3: Prezi- H.S.I.E "Who Will Buy?"
In this Unit, students will be looking at shopping then and now.
Students will view Prezi on the origins of ‘shopping’ in Australia and what shopping was like approximately 100 years ago. The presentation will include:
• Arrival of the supply ship Justinian in 1790 (‘Australia’s first shop’), supplying goods for the colony
• The first ‘on-shore’ shop that opened in 1792
• A look at shopping from the 1980's and the major changes technology has had on shopping today.
Reflection: Wow, what amazing tools I have discovered through this IT course. I have always wanted to learn how to use Prezi, and now that I know how to use it, I will definitely be cooperating all of these tools in my teaching. These variety of tools can be used in any rich task or assessments. Bubblus is a fantastic way to use mind maps. I love how open ended this tool is. As soon as you start a new mind map, it opens on a new canvas, giving you the option to start as you please, increasing text size, changing the colour and shape of the text source. I also loved how easy it was to use and connect from one idea to the next.
Glogster is a great way to present posters digitally- this tool is very open ended as well. What I liked about this, was as much as it was open-ended, it still kept the same format that a 'poster' would. The templates and icons gave it that poster feel which was great! I loved how easy it was to download videos, images and text. Prezi is a more exciting way to use than the powerpoint presentation. I love the zoom effect it has when focusing on a main idea. The templates were also brilliant, and there were a lot more exciting options than powerpoint.

Module 6- Picasa Activity
Reflection
Picasa is definitely an app that stuck with me. This tool is really easy to use, and a great way to collate photos, create albums and edit them using a variety of options.
This tool is practical as it can be downloaded on an ipad. My class use ipads more than laptops/computers, so it's important to make sure that these tools can also be used on ipads. Not only is it practical but it's free to use- no 30 day trials.
This app can be used when creating collages to create a storyboard just by using photos (no words) to depict feelings/emotions in Religion or Creative Arts.
This app can also be used when exploring procedures in Science integrating English. I will definitely integrate this tool into my lessons.

Module 7- Building Online communities
Reflection
Delicious or Diigo is best described as a tool to keep links to your favourite blogs, articles, music etc and share them with family, friends and colleagues. You can use Delicious when bookmarking movies you want to see, travel planning, bookmark books you want to read, things you want to blog about, and research.
Delicious allows you to find some of the best quality resources on the web without having to go through all websites. It's also known for managing and organising information around the net. Make sure you have created a shortcut on your desktop for easy access. If you have a Windows computer, you can do this through Delwin or for Mac you can use Delibar. Module 8
Module 8- Managing your flow of information on the Internet
For anyone that doesn't know what RSS is, it stands for Rich Site Summary. It is basically a format for delivering web content, from news-related sites to blogs. This tool is great for keeping you updated within the world of teaching. http://feedly.com is what I use to view my RSS feeds about general teaching ideas. I see it as the same concept as facebook or pinterest- instead, the RSS feeds that show in your news feed are from peoples blogs or news feeds that you have liked. I can see the benefits of this tool, although I don't think I would use this in my year 3 classroom. I would use this in secondary classrooms.

Module 9
Module 9- Networks on the web- professional and social.
Which of these social and professional networking tools could enhance learning, both in my classroom and beyond it, and how?
- Scootle can be greatly used within the classroom as it provides recourses that are linked to the Australian Curriculum. Teachers can learn, teach and collaborate using this digital resource.
- Facebook provides a variety of teaching pages and businesses that provide useful information and resources for teachers.
- Twitter is beneficial for teachers and students to share their learning and ideas. Twitter would be beneficial for higher primary (stage 3) and secondary students.
- Lindekin is a great tool for colleagues to connect among their own profession and create a large network among other colleagues.
I use all of these fantastic tools, but most likely wont be using all of these in my classroom.

As much as I would use it for personal use, I don't think I would implement this tool in my classroom, as students are in the midst of developing their own blogs and commenting on each others. Students also have the class website to add and edit their content. The website is in fact a google site, where students have their own page that links off it to upload and blog about homework, assessments and class work. This is still underway and is going of great use in term 4.
